Winx Season 8: Where’s The Kiss, Rainbow?
Does the ending of “The Light of Gorgol” (Winx season 8, episode 9) feel like it’s begging for something more? A couple fans on Winx Luci e Ombre thought so:
As weird as this might sound coming from me, I wasn’t expecting Aisha and Nex to kiss when I watched that scene. But looking back on it, I agree it feels like they should have.
The setup is perfect. They’re alone, holding hands, and standing in the light of the setting sun. They’ve just returned from a dangerous adventure where Aisha almost lost him, and they’ve grown closer and are showing even more affection than usual. Aisha thanks him for being there for her, and Nex assures her he always will be.
Then…
…they stand there staring into each other’s eyes. For a split second, it looks like he moves in to kiss her, but the “camera” cuts away!
Geez, this is worse than their date!
Squonk, I’ll never forgive you. ?
Why can’t Rainbow let Aisha and Nex kiss? I know Rainbow has toned down the romance between all the Winx couples since the older seasons, but these two haven’t had a single, uninterrupted kiss scene. You’d think the writers would make an exception to better establish the couple’s relationship.
But nope! Only Bloom and Sky may kiss now! Because they’re the most beautiful couple ever! ?
Well, there are still 13 episodes left in Winx season eight. Maybe Rainbow will surprise us with an even more romantic Aisha/Nex moment…with an actual kiss in it.
This isn’t relevant to this particular post, but I wanted to comment it somewhere, because this is cool.
I’ve been thinking about Aisha and Nex’s color symbolism, and how it relates to yin and yang. (As a recap: Aisha has dark skin, warm-colored hair, and cool-colored outfits of blue and green; Nex has lighter skin, cool hair, and warm colors in his outfits – usually red, but also yellow and earth tones.) I began to think about how this applies to Aisha’s other love interests.
Nabu has skin and hair close to Aisha’s, but he usually wears purple – a cool color with elements of red in it – with some yellow. You could say that he has elements of the yang (where she is worried, he is always calm), but they’re still too similar to fully be the yang to Aisha’s yin.
Roy has dark skin and warm hair, and mostly wears Aisha’s colors of green and blue. He has very similar colors to Aisha, so he has almost none of the yang that Aisha wants and needs.
Also, think about Aisha’s best friend, Musa. (Yes, the website says it should be Flora, but we all know that’s a lie.) Musa has light skin, cool hair, and wears red often. Guys. GUYS.
I doubt all of this was intentional by Rainbow, but it still is amazing that the color symbolism worked so well.
Nice observations! I take it this will be part of a future video. ?
To add to it, the locations of the colors may also matter. Aisha has warm-colored hair, Nex has cool-colored hair. She wears cool colors, and he wears warm colors. And so on. The same color scheme is present in both of them, but it manifests in different intensities (shades) and places.
This could relate to how they balance each other out depending on the circumstance. For example, as shown in the Sirenix arc, Nex doesn’t get overwhelmed as easily as Aisha does. That could be his warm colors. Warm colors are invigorating, while cool colors like blue invoke sadness, as in the expression “feeling blue”. Nex was able to help Aisha calm down and come up with a better solution, even in what felt to her like a hopeless situation.
On the flip side, Aisha is more sensitive than Nex. That could be her cool colors. Color colors are calming and promote reflection, while warm colors like red can invoke anger and passion, as in the expression “seeing red”. (Every color has positives and negatives.) Aisha humbles him and teaches him to pay attention to other people’s feelings.
Nabu had many of the same colors in the same locations as Aisha (warm hair, warm skin, cool eyes like her). Some of the intensities (shades) were lighter, but it wasn’t a true balance. He was really just a calmer version of her. That might have been helpful for her, but what about him? What did he get out of the relationship?
Roy was pretty much the same: warm skin, warm hair, cool eyes. But because he also wore cool colors, he didn’t balance Aisha out at all.
Musa has a similar color scheme as Nex, but her colors are darker in most cases. Still, that’s probably why she and Aisha are such good friends.
What if Rainbow faded out on/blocked the kiss because it wasn’t exactly g-rated? As in on the lips because unlike the others Aisha and Nex don’t beat around the bush and are direct…and even Bloom & Sky’s liplock is all but forgotten because it happened 15 years ago…despite them beinging engaged…and yet they are relegated to cheeks only like everybody else. Even the other engaged couple, Brandon & Stella are treated like that. Also have Nex, Helia and Timmy gone ring shopping yet? Specifically Timmy, but it’s like Rainbow’s hinting at these three all wanting to pop the question.
You mean Aisha and Nex are implied to have kissed in that scene, but Rainbow just cut away from it? Hmmm…maybe. ?
Out of Nex, Helia, and Timmy, I don’t know which one would propose first. Flora and Helia have some communication issues to work out. Tecna and Timmy seem ready for marriage to me, but we know how shy Timmy is. I don’t know how long it would take him to get up the courage to ask her. As for Aisha and Nex, I think they’re getting close, but they’re not quite ready yet.
Yes as even Bloom and Sky’s kiss was sorta distracted as if they wanted to do a liplock, but settled for the cheek in 8×13. I guess the second half is gonna be “The Diaspro Files pt 28 and still counting.”
As for the others…Timmy probably would propose first out of the three. He and Tecna have the healthiest relationship out of any couple (ironic their roommates have serious anger management issues interfering with their romance isn’t it? Well at least Riven’s cooling off now and not blowing up everytime Musa tells him off). Nex would be next, then Helia.
