Winx Club Season 8 Sirenix Arc Premieres in Russia
“Into The Depths of Andros” (S8, EP08), the first of the two Sirenix arc episodes, premieres (or premiered) on Russia’s Carousel channel today. I think the second episode, “The Light of Gorgol” (S8, EP09), will air on Monday. As mentioned before, this arc centers on Aisha and Nex.
Russia is home to VK.com, which hosts popular Winx fan pages like WinxClubRUS and Whore Winx (yes, that’s the real name). Most of them are heavily biased towards Aisha and Nabu. When an Aisha X Nex post appears, it either slams the couple, or the comment section gets swamped with vomit emojis and cries of “Nabu only!” and “Aisha and Nabu forever!”
Bottom line: this is a tough crowd. It’s hard to know if anything could change their minds about Aisha and Nex. I guess we’ll find out soon.
Okay, I finally got to watch the Sirenix arc, and these two are just TOO. FLIPPING. CUTE.
And now for a more constructive analysis. I liked that these episodes showed off aspects of these two’s personalities that we don’t get to see that much. For Aisha, we saw her stubbornness and tendency to get frustrated quickly. We very rarely get to see her lose her temper, so seeing it happen her is interesting. This also highlights her occasional tendency to be single-minded – she just kept attacking the anemone instead of trying to seek out a different solution. I think the last time we really saw this trait from her was right after Nabu’s death. In her anger and grief, she let herself see the situation with Morgana and the wizards as black and white when it was more complex than that. In this season, she let herself fall into a negative mindset after messing up her speech, which led to frustration and a desire to just brute-force the issue away. This is an interesting character trait for her, and I wonder if we’ll get to see it more in the future.
Nex’s character wasn’t explored as thoroughly this arc, but we did get to see him being an adorable dork. I’ve always loved that Nex tries to act so confident, but as soon as he’s around Aisha, he becomes so overeager and tongue-tied. 🙂 Who else screamed in joy when he said “Remember that I’ll always be around for you, even if you don’t want me to”? That is literally the most Nex thing I have ever heard.
Also, I love that Aisha and Nex are actually able to handle their minor fights like actual adults. After brushing Nex off early in the episode, Aisha later apologized and explained that she was just stressed and busy because of her speech, and Nex wasn’t mad at her for it. I know this sounds like a pretty basic thing to mention, but come on. If this same scenario happened with Bloom and Sky, it would have resulted in a fifteen-episode subplot where the two refuse to talk to each other, and Diaspro would show up and attempt to murder Bloom at some point.
In conclusion: a decent pair of fluff episodes with some lovely interactions between our favorite yin-yang couple. Probably my favorite episodes of the season so far.

I didn’t think about the minor fight. You’re right that for a few other couples, that would have been catastrophic and possibly relationship-ending. (Makes me wonder sometimes how they’re still together.) But Aisha apologized to Nex and…that was it. It shows that they’re not only getting closer, but they’re both also maturing.
I finished the first half of Winx season 8! Honestly, I think I like where this is going. Right when Obscurum was starting to become annoying, they gave him a redemption arc. I’m not sure how I feel about him being swapped out for the Trix, but at least they have more charisma than him and can decently carry a scene. I’m somewhat excited for the rest the season now.
“Whore Winx” ?? Russians are funny people, apparently. Vk.com is a good site for finding Winx fanart or edits though. Lots of talented artists have their own page there like “krodilena”, “fantazyme” or “runzd” (to name a few).
Fantazyme is amazing, but I thought she stopped drawing Winx art. ?
She kind of did, her last Winx art was Flora in the journalist outfit from WoW. But I still watch her older drawings. However, she is still drawing stuff and I like to watch her (I wish she’d do more Winx again). Oh well, at least the other two I mentioned are still active.
