Winx Season 8: Silence From The Peanut Gallery?
You know the routine. Rainbow posts something about Aisha and Nex (or with them in it). The Winx fandom slams it with gripes about Nabu, how stupid/rude/etc. they think Nex is, and how Roy was supposedly better for Aisha. Wash, rinse, repeat since the end of season six.
A couple weeks ago, Rainbow uploaded two clips from the Winx season eight Sirenix arc to YouTube. I’d been avoiding the comment sections until a few days ago, when I accidentally saw one of the top comments. Curiosity then got the best of me.
What I saw surprised me. As of the date of this post, in response to the clip from “The Light of Gorgol” (Winx season 8, episode 9), the Aisha/Nex haters have said…nothing. ?
Color me skeptical. Maybe Rainbow just deleted the negative comments, since they’ve allegedly done that before. But if they did, why did they keep the ones on the clip from “Into The Depths of Andros” (Winx season 8, episode 8)?
How about this? The “Gorgol” clip has fewer views (currently 25K vs. 27K). Maybe the haters just refused to watch it.
It’s sad that when Aisha and Nex don’t get bashed by the fandom, it feels more suspicious than exciting. But what if this is legit? What if, for once, the haters really had nothing to say? Is this another sign that the fandom’s opinion of this couple may finally be changing?
By the way, I think “Into The Depths of Andros” will premiere tomorrow on Russia’s Carousel channel. (CORRECTION: Looks like it’s not tomorrow, but it might be sometime this week.) Russia is only the second country to see season eight, but Winx Club is still relatively popular there (hence why it still airs on TV). How will Russian fans react to the Sirenix arc? Will it change any of their minds about Aisha and Nex? We’ll see.
From what I saw, most of the negative comments were about the plot holes regarding Sirenix, not about Aisha and Nex. There was one comment I’m going to share because it made me really happy:
“I miss Nabu? but now we look ahead, there is Nex now and Nabu would have liked Aisha’s happiness so …
Long live Aisha !!!! ?”
Yes, it’s still paying the metaphorical Nabu tax, but at least it’s not someone spamming “BUT NABU” over and over. There was also another fan who said that, though they don’t like Aisha and Nex together, they could tell that he was “really trying” in that clip, and they felt bad for him. So who knows? Maybe these episodes are changing some people’s opinions after all.
That comment (the Nabu tax one) made me happy, too, but it’s the typical thing people have said for years. I wish the fandom actually cared about Aisha and Nex’s relationship and what makes it special, rather than just seeing Nex as an okay follow-up to Nabu. When she was with him, the fandom didn’t say, “Aisha’s happy.” They talked about why she was happy, why Nabu was happy, and what was good about that relationship. I wish the fandom would do the same for her and Nex.
But at least the negative opinion of this couple may be changing. That’s a start.
yeah the fandom may finally be starting to come around hopefully
I guess you could say the tide is finally changing? How fitting. Took them long enough.
Hopefully this won’t be followed by a *wave* of negativity.
No need for a washout!
I hope they’ll start to sea what we sea in this couple.
From what I can tell, if there’s one place that hasn’t accepted Aisha and Nex, it’s DeviantArt. They probably never will. ?
That site might as well be called “The Nabu Treasury” where all Nabu taxes get stored.
Either DeviantArt or Tumblr.
Too bad a lot already mist it.
you are still funny with words Will
Hopefully they can desalinate themselves (get rid of all their salt).
Yes, I just made a joke about desalination. There’s a reason why “nerdy” is in my username.
