Update: Aisha/Nex Redesign Artist Found

I found an artist to redesign Aisha and Nex for my fanfic! You might recognize her: PirateHearts, who made the Valentine’s Day cupcake-themed fan art and the screenshot redraw from “The Light of Gorgol” (Winx season 8, episode 9). She’s a professional illustrator and character designer, so my beloved couple will look amazing! ❤️

Why do I wanna redesign Aisha and Nex? First, since my story doesn’t take place in the Winx universe, I want an art style that better matches my tone. Two, I wanna distance this couple from their Winx Club selves and their love story (though I may retell parts of it). Changing the art style will help.

Finally, let’s face it: one reason the fandom hates Nex is they don’t like his appearance. Remember the halo effect and the horn effect? They also cause us to judge people based on their looks. You’re more likely to trust someone you think is attractive than someone you think is ugly. That’s because we assume beautiful people are good, and ugly people are evil. It’s shallow, but it’s human nature.

I know some fans think Nex is ugly. They also say he looks like a villain or a womanizer. So the sad truth is if we make him more handsome, not only will they like him more, but they’ll also be more likely to support him as Aisha’s boyfriend.

I don’t want him to look as cute as he did in Winx season eight, though. The guy’s name means “death”, for crying out loud! He needs to look a little intimidating! Rainbow kept the perma-scowl, but it looked more like he was judging everybody. ?

My ideal design for him would be a cross between the original (season six and seven) and his season eight redesign. As for Aisha, we’ll base her new look on her original design. Screw season eight’s (except her hair).

PirateHearts is drawing her first. As soon as she’s done, I’ll share her on this site and on AishaAndNex.com with more information about her character in my story. Same with Nex. Stay tuned!
