The Winx 8 Sirenix Arc in English
The Sirenix arc premiered in Turkey this week. Apparently, Turkey broadcasts shows with dual language options, the other being English. That means some fans have seen the English dub now.
A couple fans have been posting the English season eight episodes online. To watch “The Light of Gorgol” (Winx season 8, episode 9), click here. I haven’t seen “Into the Depths of Andros” (Winx season 8, episode 8) yet.
I’ve also seen a few clips on YouTube, though most of them have been taken down already. Not surprisingly, the uploaders have been avoiding/ignoring the scenes with Aisha and Nex together in them. Sigh.
Not that it matters because based on “The Light of Gorgol”, what feared would happen did. Thanks to Elinor Vanderburg‘s inexperience, Marc Thompson’s meathead voice, and 3Beep’s direction, the scenes between Aisha and Nex feel silly rather than romantic. They either had not enough emotion or the wrong kind.
Feel free to watch the episodes and judge for yourself. I just know I’m disappointed, and I’m sure this won’t prove to anyone that Aisha and Nex are a good couple.

Anyway, I’ll let you know when I find “Into the Depths of Andros”. I may be offline most of the day, though, because of obligations in real life. If someone finds the episode before I do, let me know.
Honestly, the English dub wasn’t as bad as I was expecting. I still prefer the Italian dub of these scenes, but the English was bearable. I honestly can’t get too mad at the actors, because it feels like the issue is more with the direction they’re receiving. I’ll have to hear more of the season before I cast any official judgment. However, I did really like their voices for Valtor and Obscurum.
I watched it again after I wrote this post, and I agree. The English dub wasn’t terrible. Aisha sounds way too much like Bloom to me sometimes, especially when she’s upset. (She also sounds like Tecna sometimes.) But overall, it’s not bad. The Italian dub was definitely better, though.
