Lots of New Aisha/Nex Posts, Nex RP Accounts on Instagram
Like I said a few weeks ago, the Instagram Winx fandom is warming up to Aisha and Nex faster than the rest of the fandom. I’ve seen a lot of new posts: screenshots (mostly from season eight), edits, videos, even a fanfic! Also, more and more fans are starting Nex accounts (roleplaying as him). It’s weird to see the Aisha accounts fighting over them. ?
People are also including Aisha and Nex in Winx couple collages and galleries more often. Until now, the fandom usually showed Aisha/Nabu (most often) or Aisha/Roy (less often) instead, so it’s nice to see the fandom finally acknowledge that Nex is her canon boyfriend now.
Here are some recent Aisha/Nex posts. With season eight airing in Turkey and some English-speaking fans watching the English dub (thanks to Turkey’s dual audio), Aisha and Nex may gain a lot more fans soon. ?
I recently saw some Aisha x Nex positivity on Tumblr, surprisingly! About a week ago, I searched for Aisha and Nex (or maybe just Nex, I don’t remember), not expecting to find anything. The first thing that popped up was these really nice collages for all the couples, and Aisha and Nex were actually included.
I’m cautiously excited??? Like, my instinct is to be happy and hope that even more fans will like Aisha and Nex once s8 airs in more countries. But the cynical part of me who’s been arguing with people online for the past week is more apprehensive. I really hope my cynical side is wrong.
Wow! That is exciting! ? Were the collages new? I remember some GIF collages someone made a few years ago, but if the ones you’re talking about are recent, that could be a good sign!
Assuming you mean the people on WinxClubEnglish’s video, I keep reminding myself that most of them haven’t seen season eight. They’re judging the couple based on seasons six and seven, and even then, they’re basing their feelings on misconceptions. For example, a lot of fans still think Nex is just a clone of Riven. (I’m working on a post about that.)
I also keep seeing this idea that Roy slowly got to know Aisha over time, while Nex barely talked to her and she just jumped into his arms. In reality, it was the opposite. Nex slowly got to know Aisha over time, while Roy barely talked to her and she appeared to jump into his arms. I wonder if this is another case where the fandom projecting one character’s problems onto Nex. They also keep saying Aisha never officially chose either guy, but her “couple confirmation” episode with Nex was “Legendary Duel” (S6, EP24).
So there’s still a lot of misinformation and stubbornness out there. My hope is people will watch season eight, get interested in Aisha and Nex again, go back and watch what really happened in their love story (instead of the fandom’s interpretation), and realize how their relationship (and Nex’s character) have developed. Hopefully, the last 13 episodes of season eight will help as well.
Off topic, but may I ask what your opinion on the new animation style is?
I…kinda like it. It’s growing on me. The Winx look okay, but the Specialists bother me. They look like little boys. I guess I wish Rainbow would at least age them up some.
There are things I think are better in this art style than the old one. For example, I don’t miss the Winx’s old Play-doh hair at all. The hair in the new style is gorgeous and more realistic-looking (for a cartoon).
I also somewhat like the textures on their outfits, although I hate that they shift when the characters move instead of moving naturally with them. That probably can’t be helped, though.
To be honest, I wish Rainbow had kept the old style for consistency’s sake, but I don’t hate the new style.
