What Will It Take to Redeem Nex?

I wrote about redeeming Nex a while ago. But to be honest, I don’t know what it’ll take. I don’t think he’s irredeemable, but the Winx fandom seems to. Some fans even think he’s secretly a villain! (Why? ?)
I wish Nex wasn’t in this situation. He wasn’t supposed to be an unlikeable character! Rainbow wouldn’t have called him “friendly” in his character description if he was supposed to be an a*hole. Yet that’s what the fandom thinks of him: he’s an a*hole. Great.
What does he need to do to change their opinion of him? How can Rainbow repair his reputation? I think it can be done, but I worry it’s too late. Or if it’s not, whatever the writers try won’t work. Nothing has worked so far.
Please keep trying, Rainbow. You created Nex. You’re his only hope. ?
I wish people stopped using asterisks in the middle of words.
As for the fandom…I think most of them suck. They trash Winx season 8, walk over to inferior shows made for toddlers (you know which two crap shows I’m referring to) and keep trashing Winx on twitter.
Perhaps it would have been better if Iginio stopped at season 4. Perhaps Winx would have been loved even more. Perhaps it’s too late to unite the fandom against outsiders who want to destroy us (the fandom does a pretty good job with it all by itself). Perhaps there is only one way of making people like it and that’s by forcing them to do it. Sure, season 5+ doesn’t have the same writing quality? And? I still support it. I still buy dvds
(accidentally hit the “post comment” button, so I’m gonna continue here) of them to support Rainbow. And it’s not all bad! The environmental plot was nice, Sirenix and Harmonix are cute, the fairy tale gimmick of season 6 was interesting and even the seventh season had something for me, despite being my least favorite. And if I, a critical thinker, can overlook most of the “problems” of the “americanized” seasons, I’m sure less …mature (lacking a better word right now) fans can do as well. But they don’t! They want their ideas to be implemented right now and if it doesn’t work out, they shit on everything Rainbow does. That’s why I want more intellectual adults in here. Korra and Avatar communities don’t have the haters we do and that’s because most of the fans are adults. Even micrapulous fans are united, so why the fuck can’t fans of a superior show made for children and teenagers by a smart Italian finally UNITE? Do we really have so many stupid people in our fandom? Are we really that toxic? I don’t know. I just know that this negativity from the so-called “fans” towards the Winx is hurting me and I can’t continue to feel that pain anymore. Humanity sucks and that goes for most Winx fans as well. I really thought I’d have a place where I could share my love for Winx, exchange ideas, talk about different stuff, maybe even create an own fan-made project in the future to make the Winx brand more popular and famous (a web show, a music video, a show where dolls fight each other like in Celebrity Deathmatch, a Winx parody, reviewing books, magazines, dolls, a short movie, a mini-series, doing an own Winx comic for a teenage audience like Marvel or DC does….). But it’s just not happening here. Winx has the potential to be the best/most popular franchise but only when the fan base it healthy (and the latter is not the case, much to my disappointment).
Well, anyway…. If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that if you love a show/movie/book/etc., don’t join its fandom. Winx was my first fandom experience, and it’ll be my last. I never wanna feel this miserable ever again.
I see. It’s unfortunate that your experience has been bad towards the end but not utterly surprising when looking at the negativity and hatred (especially to the unreleased Winx shows).
Korra is good though. And it’s never too late for Avatar either. But it is your decision of course.
I too will take a break from online communities for a while, before joining the Korra/Aang forum (if I ever find the address of it again, that is) as every show I like -or have liked- gets constantly trashed by conservative, trump-supporting imbeciles.
I didn’t like Korra — not even the first season. Plus, I recently watched an hour and a half long video where a YouTuber talked about why Korra wasn’t good, and I agreed with a lot of their points. But anyway, online communities don’t feel worth it for me anymore. At least I can say I tried one.
Unless the fandom is Korra and Avatar. I have read few comments on some forum years ago and they seemed to contain mature fans. Of course, that could have changed by now… still might join that one forum in the future though.
I just wish Spirit Riding Free and Regal Academy had a fandom. Where can you talk about these shows, except on their wiki, Amino, on which you’re limited to 100 characters per comment, and YouTube?
As for the -true- Winx fans…We’re going to die out soon. First world problems, I guess.
Maybe you’re right and Winx won’t continue for long, not because of the writing quality of recent seasons, but because of the so-called “fans” who ruin this wonderful franchise with their negativity and toxicity. The Netflix show might be the last hope we have in uniting this community (and by the looks of it, lots of “fans” have already formed their -negative- opinion on the newest project ?).
I didn’t like Korra, and I got into Avatar too late to be part of the fandom.
