Why Does Nex Love Aisha?
“Nex only loves Aisha for her looks.”
Sigh. This again? ? Why am I surprised? Slandering Nex is one of the Winx fandom’s favorite past-times.
This myth probably started after their date in “A Friend From the Past” (Winx season 7, episode 5), when he said to her, “You are really beautiful…” It was just a compliment! Geez! ? Haven’t the other guys called their girlfriends beautiful before? Why is it only a crime when Nex says it?
(By the way, I could say something about Roy, but I’ll save it for my next “Why I Don’t Support Aisha/Roy” post.)
Anyway, the real reason Nex loves Aisha isn’t as shallow as the fandom thinks. He loves her for her personality. Period.
Here’s the proof. (By the way, credit to WinxClubMagix for the idea for this post.)
“Strong Attitude”
Remember Nex’s character description? I cite it a lot because it gives us some insight into what Rainbow intended for his character.
The description came from a MovieTele.it article published a week before Winx season six premiered in Italy. Most of the information was new, and it all came true: new outfits for the Trix and Specialists, a second transformation called Mythix, Daphne and Thoren falling in love, etc. Only Rainbow knew this stuff back then, which is why I trust the article.
Here’s what it says about Nex’s feelings for Aisha:
Nex rimarrà molto colpito dall’atteggiamento forte di Aisha e gradualmente s’innamorerà di lei…
Run that line through Google Translate and you get:
Nex will be very impressed by Aisha’s strong attitude and will gradually fall in love with her…
“Strong attitude”, huh? Last time I checked, that’s not a synonym for “beauty”.
In Aisha’s Own Words

This might sound familiar to you. A few years ago, Rainbow released a series of books in Russia about the Winx. (I don’t know what year it was, but it was during the season seven era.) Here’s what Aisha says about her boyfriend in her book (my translation):
Confident and determined Nex appreciates my strong personality.
(Here’s the Russian text so you can check my work: “Уверенный в себе и решительный Некс ценит мой сильный характер.” You can also see the page here. By the way, I didn’t link the word “Некс” to anything because it’s “Nex”.)
She then mentions that he likes sports just like she does. But does she say anything about Nex admiring her beauty? Nope.
Keep in mind this is official Winx Club merchandise. Does Rainbow make things up for it sometimes? Sure. But since Aisha’s words match what it says in Nex’s character description, this isn’t one of those times.
“She’s No Joke”

Even though we can trust official outside sources, naysayers may claim they’re wrong because the canon is king. So does Winx Club itself prove that Nex fell in love with her “strong personality”? Yes, it does.
In “The Flying School” (Winx season 6, episode 3), the first thing he says about Aisha is:
Wow! She’s no joke!
For the sake of clarity, let’s define “no joke”. Dictionary.com says it means “a serious issue”. The Free Dictionary says it’s “something that must or should be taken seriously”. You get the point.
The Italian line is similar. Nex says:
Wow! La ragazza fa sul serio!
Google Translate says this means:
Wow! The girl is serious!
“Fare sul serio” means “to be or act serious” or “to mean business”. No matter which language you listen to, Nex is talking about how serious Aisha is (a personality trait), not how pretty she is. This is the moment he becomes attracted to her.

Final Thoughts
There you go: three, official, reliable sources saying that Nex loves Aisha for who she is, not how she looks. What other proof does the fandom need? Does he have to flat out say it in the show? (I almost hope he does.)
Until then, next time someone says, “Nex only loves Aisha for her looks,” link them to this post. ?
I like Nex, i always fall for someone’s personality. To me falling in love for someone’s character is more genuine.
Oops, i meant to say “I am like Nex”, in the first sentence.
In Dutch, Nex says: “Wow, wat een vrouw!” Translation: “Wow, what a woman!” which means: He thinks she’s out of the ordinary, he likes how different she is, the woman of his dreams.
