There’s Nothing New Under The Sun, But That’s Okay *UPDATE*

Today, I discovered a fictional couple who’s similar to Aisha and Nex.

Oh, don’t worry. I didn’t think they were the only couple of their kind in pop culture. I admit I’m disappointed, though. I wish I could go back to living in blissful ignorance, never knowing this other couple existed.

To be fair, they’re not 100 percent like Aisha and Nex, but some of the concepts they’re based on are the same. Does this mean my beloved couple has been upstaged again? No. At least I don’t think so.

From what I’ve read, this other couple’s overall story is different from what I had in mind for Aisha and Nex. The plot isn’t even close to same. It’s just that some of the character details and design choices are (which is Rainbow’s fault, not mine ?).

Why am I being so vague? Because if I say the other couple’s names, they might become linked to this blog through search engines. I don’t want that connection to be made yet (or ever, if possible).

All I’ll say is they’re a new adaptation of old characters. If you want specifics, send me an email (obliviousprattler@yahoo.com). You may know more about this couple than I do. Are they really similar to Aisha and Nex? Maybe not.

Either way, I think Aisha and Nex can still stand out. Their story may be based on some of the same ideas, but those ideas can always be used in a different way. That’s what I plan to do.

This town is big enough for both couples.

UPDATE: After reading more about “the other couple”, I’ve changed my mind. They’re not like Aisha and Nex. Yes, some of the concepts are the same, but that’s not a big deal. These concepts aren’t new, anyway. What makes them special is how they’re used.

Aisha and Nex still have their own story to tell. I hope they get the chance.

Couples based off of the yin and ying, and life and death, have been around for a very long time. It even traces back to Greek mythology, with Hades and Persephone (it probably goes back even farther than that, but they’re just the oldest one I know about). But Aisha and Nex use these concepts in new ways, so they can stand out on their own just fine.
