Inktober 2019 Drabble #3: “Childhood Memento”

“Whoa!” said Nex. “I’ve never seen so many books!”

“We don’t have time to browse,” said Aisha.

For about two hours, the couple shuffled through the stacks, gathering Andros textbooks, history books, maps, and biographies.

Suddenly, Aisha noticed a thin book on a bottom shelf. The moment she saw its cover, she gasped.

“No browsing, Aisha!” said Nex playfully.

She gave him a cheeky smile before picking up the book. “This was my favorite book when I was little. It’s about a girl who leaves her home, and goes on adventures, and becomes a hero.”

Nex chuckled. “Just like you.”

Author/Artist’s Notes

I’m not sure if the term “the stacks” is common or not. It just means “the bookshelves”. I used to work at a library, and that’s what we called them. ?

Also, hands are stupid. (Said every artist ever.)
