GermanSirenix’s Aisha/Nex Appreciation Post

A few days ago, GermanSirenix shared his thoughts about Aisha and Nex on Instagram. What do you think of them? I couldn’t agree with him more, and I’ll respond in a future post.
Here’s what he had to say:
After Nabu’s death, it took [Aisha] over two seasons to eventually get into a new relationship, and I personally think Nex is the best guy she could have gotten.
Aisha would have probably settled down with Nabu, but I personally think that’s not really what she desired. She is someone that always needs a challenge and adventure. And Nex is the perfect guy for that.
I imagine him being up to every extreme sport or challenge Aisha proposes. They’re both challenging each other in order to become better people, and that’s what I think a true relationship should be like. No other Winx [couple] has such a great dynamic like those two, and I just think it’s beautiful. Aisha truly deserves it.⠀
It’s actually funny how the fandom
thinks Nabu is “the perfect boyfriend” for Aisha. While he wasn’t even what she needed in her life.
The way I see it is this. Nabu was the archetype of a perfect boyfriend. He appealed to the fandom’s fantasies of having a boyfriend like that, even though (or maybe because) such a man doesn’t exist in real life.
I think no matter which Winx he dated, they would have called him “the perfect boyfriend for her”. Yes, he was based on Aisha, but the traits they had in common existed just to justify their love story. They weren’t really part of his character.
For example, Power of Charmix pointed out in her video that Nabu acted really smooth around Aisha in season three. If he grew up with no friends, why was he so good at talking to strangers? Aisha wasn’t. You’d think he’d be as socially awkward as she was.
So in my mind, Nabu was just an idealistic fantasy boyfriend. With magic powers, too!
That’s another thing. Framing is what Nabu seem special for being a wizard. We hadn’t seen any other wizards his age in Winx Club, so he stood out. But in any other fantasy story, he would have blended into the crowd.
