Haters Are Motivators
A troll left a comment on one of my DeviantArt pictures saying that Nabu would be “rolling over in his grave” now that Aisha’s dating Nex. I admit my response was rude, and I probably should have ignored this random person. But I’m just so done with the Winx fandom…
Let them say what they what. I already know they’re too bitter and biased to ever love Aisha and Nex. But as the saying goes, “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.” The Winx fandom has thrown this couple away, but I’ll prove they’re worth more than anyone, even Rainbow, thinks they are.
The Aisha X Nex haters are my fuel now. The more they bash the couple, the more motivated I feel. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: I love Aisha and Nex, and I won’t give up on them.
well i honestly was surprised when i read this
To be honest, I was wrong about the fan’s feelings, but what they actually meant was something I’ve heard a million times. A lot of fans have rejected Nex simply because Aisha didn’t mourn Nabu long enough. I think their anger about that should be directed towards Roy, not Nex. But since Nex is the one who actually became her new boyfriend, the fandom is taking it out on him instead.
But if Roy hadn’t been there in season five, Aisha could have spent a season by herself getting over Nabu fully. Then in season six, she could have met Nex and fallen in love with him without the dumb love triangle in the way. So Roy was the real problem with Aisha’s story, not Nex. I might write a post about that.
Everything above about Roy is so accurate. It’s not like Aisha and Roy had some meaningful connection that made her choice at the end relevant to her character arc. I think Roy was completely unnecessary, but I also think he served a minor role in showing Aisha she could fall in love again, like you wrote in that one old post on Una di Noi Winx. Honestly, Nex could have served that purpose just fine, but if it was absolutely necessary to include Roy, he could have just been a one or two-episode character, like Jared or Orlando. And if the love triangle was absolutely necessary, Roy should have been much more like…well, an actual character, and not just a blank slate.
I agree. Roy was an unnecessary and unoriginal character. The only reason the fandom is holding on to Aisha X Roy is because they don’t like Nex. But I doubt they’d actually be happy right now if she were dating Roy. They didn’t like the idea of it before Nex showed up. Plus, the “she moved on too quickly” argument would be much more relevant, since she met Roy only a few months after Nabu’s death.
yeah Roy probably should have been a 1 season character
I think Roy shouldn’t have existed. What did he add to the main cast? A unique personality? Nope. A new realm to add to the lore? Nope, since he was from Andros. A new ability? Nope. The Winx don’t have many underwater missions anyway, and when they do, they already have the tools for it (like Sirenix). Plus, his Triton Aura thing was exactly like the underwater breathing spell Aisha cast on the Winx in season three.
Roy felt like a pointless mashup of other characters’ traits: the Specialists’ class and standard Ken doll demeanor; Nabu’s realm of origin, skin tone, and exact same tattoo (with supposed magic powers to go with it); Sky’s hair color; and Brandon’s job. His only claim-to-fame is being a guy who liked Aisha…in a season where it would have been better for her to have no love interests. He’s the easiest “main” character to remove from the show.
yeah he didn’t bring anything new to the table so what was the point heck the selkies brought more to the table than he did
And my fuel are all the Regal Academy, Winx and Spirit Riding Free haters. I cannot give up like I intended to do a few days ago. The battle is tough, but my will can be tough too. As long as I live, I will keep on fighting. There HAS to be someone that likes and defends those shows mentioned above as much as I do. There HAS to be someone who sees through all the “miraculer” bullshit and hates that fandom as much as I do.
What I’m trying to say is: You’ll have to keep on fighting. Even it it’s just for 5 people, do it for them. It’s hard but the effort will be worth it. Take a short break (a few days/weeks) once in a while though (because there is only so much fighting you can do before your body says “enough”).
I still like your idea of a romantic show starring these two and I am not going to back down on my word; I wanna support your project if I can. Write a Nex x Layla book, put it online (Amazon or eBay preferably) and I’ll buy one, promised.
As for Roy, I don’t mind him at all but I have to agree that he didn’t add much to season 5 or 6. I feel like Rainbow could have skipped his parts and the show would still be the same, that’s how relevant he was to the cartoon. Maybe the whole amnesia storyline should have went to him instead of Sky (or to Helia, which would have added a new layer to the Flora x Helia x Krystal love triangle). What a waste.
i’m honestly wondering the whole Flora, Helia and Krystal was even necessary what did it really add anyway
I don’t feel like it was. Rainbow doesn’t seem to know what to do with Flora and Helia. Despite being one of the most popular couples, they’re one of the least developed.
yeah they are popular alright cause they have the most fics in the winx fic archives
really i’m honestly asking myself what was the point of that whole love triangle in season 5
i’m wondering how good Nex would be with a musical instrument
The guys tend to play whatever instrument their girlfriends play in the Winx Band. So Nex would probably have the drums, which actually suits him.
Hmm so he could have very easily replaced Roy in season 5 ep 23’s musical number
Exactly. Nabu was also shown playing drums in one episode of season four, but he was faking it using his magic. If you ask me, out of the three guys, the drums fit Nex’s personality the best. It felt like Roy was playing the drums just because he was Aisha’s love interest, not because he actually would play the drums himself.
yeah but will we ever see that is another question
