Winx Season 8: Oops! Aisha With Blue Eyes
While making screenshots for Aisha’s birthday fan art commission, I found a mistake in “Between The Earth and The Sea” (Winx season 8, episode 23). Aisha has blue eyes like she used to, instead of teal eyes like she has in her new design.
Here’s a shot of her with teal eyes later in the same scene:
There’s no denying that Rainbow changed Aisha’s design a lot in Winx season eight. I have nothing new to say about it. Besides, the Winx fandom complains about it every day as it is.
All I’ll say is this. Am I happy with her new design? No (except her hair). Do I prefer the original? Yes.
But do I think Rainbow will ever change her back? Sadly, no. It is what it is.
As far as my own stories go, I still imagine Aisha with her old design. And you may notice that when I commission fan art, I ask for the old design with the new outfits.
That said, what do I think of her blue eyes in this new design?
I like the new Season 8 design, yes the old will always be my favorite,
but the new design isn’t bad aswell. I think it has it’s charm to it. To be honest it isn’t the first time,
Winx Club’s animation style was never consisent throught out of all the seasons (even the old seasons).
The fandom’s pretending this is the first time in Winx history ?
theres no other new artstyle except wow;/
That’s true. The art style evolved over the years, but the changes were small. This is a pretty dramatic change, so I think that’s why the fandom is throwing a tantrum.
I don’t hate everything about the art style, but I don’t think changing this much it was a good idea.
And the fandom’s throwing tantrums about every change too. So does it matter? In the past they’ve been hating on the other different art styles aswell.
I’m not saying it doesn’t matter. It does. You’re right. The fandom rages against every single change to this show, good or bad, and it’s annoying. Change is natural, but it needs to be done carefully.
Sorry, i have to correct a misunderstanding. I didn’t meant to say you said it didn’t matter. My “Does it matter?” Question wasn’t personally. It was a rhetorical question.
But you are right, it’s far too late into show to change the animationstyle so drasticly. It should’ve been done earlier in the series, it’s just like Icy’s background story and Nex’s character.
I also never understood why they changed the animation. Like you said, it’s to target a younger audience. But why changing the art style? Why could’ve they not just made the characters younger in the old art style?
Well, I’d love to believe they could still redeem Nex, but I don’t know. ? He’s only been in the series for three seasons. But trying to redeem Icy, who’s been a villain with no remorse for eight seasons, was ridiculous.
Then again, the fandom already made up redemption stories for the Trix because they somehow believe they’re still good inside or can become good. But Nex? Oh, no! He’s a horrible person who doesn’t even deserve love!
Nex is more despicable than the Trix. Fandom logic.
Anyway, yeah, why not make the Winx look younger in the original style? Rainbow didn’t have to change the entire look.
To me the Season 5 animation change wad dramatic too. It took me ages to get used to it.
Why do you think changing it this much wasn’t a good idea?
Well, according to someone from Rainbow, they changed it so that the younger audience could see themselves in the characters. But season 8 was an anniversary season. The target audience wasn’t the younger fans — it was the older fans who grew up with Valtor, Enchantix, and whatnot. I think it would have been better to keep the old art style at least for this season.
But honestly, I think it was too late for Rainbow to revamp the series like that. If season 8 had been a full reboot instead, it would have been fine. But changing the art style 15 years and eight seasons in seems like too much of a gamble. Either stick with what works, or start over.
Say what you will, but Aisha’s Cosmix hair is BEAUTIFUL. Yas queen slay! The curls just fall in a way that’s really pretty.
Yeah, her hair looks gorgeous. Honestly, the hair is the best thing about the new art style.
i thought it was just an animation error
It was. I’m just pointing it out because some people may not have noticed it.
I actually dont mind the design change for S8 in terms of Aisha. I especially love her hair, it’s like a modernized version of the curly hair she had in the older seasons if you ask me and I feel in the new style, she is also a lot more expressive too. And I barely noticed the eye color change if u ask me, I still find Aisha’s eye color to be pretty much the same still.
I agree about her hair and her expressiveness. The old art style wasn’t perfect. Lack of expressiveness was one of its weaknesses. The new art style is more anime-esque, and anime has always been superior when it comes to showing a range of emotions.
the new s8 style is okat but ain’t perfect and has room to improve as i probably already about
Especially the boys…
And can we talk about the fact the new artstyle is actualy very unoriginal. Throw a rock, and you’ll many other animated show with tne similar style as Season 8.
Very true. The old style was more distinct.
No kidding. They look awful.
