Aisha and Nex’s Love Story Video by WinxClubEnglish

Popular YouTuber WinxClubEnglish has a series of love story videos about the Winx and their boyfriends. Instead of having their own video, Aisha and Nex were tacked onto her video with Nabu. That finally changed yesterday.

Their video includes the English audio from their scene on the dock in “The Light of Gorgol” (Winx season 8, episode 9). Not surprisingly, it doesn’t feel as romantic as the Italian dub. The voices and the script fall flat.

Nex: Nice speech!
Aisha: Thanks. And thanks for helping me when I needed you.
Nex: Remember, I’ll always be there for you, even when you don’t want me to be.

First of all, Aisha sounds eerily like Bloom…and Stella…and Flora. It’s gonna be hard to tell the Winx’s voices apart in this dub. Also, there’s no emotion in Aisha’s voice. She doesn’t sound happy or grateful.

Second, Nex’s voice actor is definitely the same as in season seven. Goody. That meathead voice doesn’t even fit with what Nex is saying. It barely feels like he’s being romantic.

Sigh. I was worried this might happen. Maybe watching the rest of the Sirenix arc will help. Sometimes, a clip sounds better in context than by itself.

The rest of the couple’s video is scenes from seasons six and seven. It starts with their confession scene from “Legendary Duel” (Winx season 6, episode 24), then it jumps back to when they met in “The Flying School” (Winx season 6, episode 3). It’s a terrible order because it puts Nex’s worst moments last, so that’s what the audience will take away. Putting the scenes from season eight last would have helped show that he’s changed.

Sirenix-Winx says the Aisha/Nex haters have flooded the comment section as usual. They have all the power in the Winx fandom, so they don’t feel any shame shooting down all Aisha/Nex content (unless it’s negative). Fans of the couple don’t get to enjoy them in peace.

All we can hope is that some of the haters will change their minds after they watch season eight. After all, since it hasn’t premiered in English yet, the majority of WinxClubEnglish‘s viewers haven’t seen it. But of course, some of them will never warm up to this couple, and this video isn’t helping.

Oh, well. At least Aisha and Nex were finally included. Regardless of the fandom’s hatred of them, this couple deserves appreciation, too.

Because I’ve been rewatching so many Aisha and Nex moments recently, I’ve noticed that neither of Nex’s voice actors are perfect. As you know, his Nick voice is the same actor who does Brandon. He’s doing a deeper voice to differentiate the two characters, and you can tell that it’s not really a comfortable voice range for him. Also, whenever Nex laughs, he does this super airy snicker that gets on my nerves. But hey, at least his Nick voice is good at emoting and can do Nex both at his best and his worst.

And then there’s the DuArt voice. Ugh. Honestly, he’s not horrible in the scenes where Nex is being mischievous and arrogant, but he really falls flat in his more sensitive scenes. But as you said, maybe this will sound better in context.
